  • The Artist

Pamela Viggiani is a mixed-media artist and art educator living in Canandaigua, NY. A native of the Finger Lakes region, Pamela received a BS and MS from Nazareth College of Rochester. She began teaching art in 1986. Now in retirement, Pamela continues to foster enthusiasm and creativity in her students by teaching local after school art programs for children.

Pamela’s art has been featured in “Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery”, “Another Chicago Magazine”, “Press Pause Press”, “From Whispers to Roars”, “Sunspot Literary Journal”, “Beyond Words Literary Magazine”, and “Wild Roof Journal”. Her works can be seen in member exhibitions at Rochester Contemporary Art Center, Mill Art Center and Gallery, Arts Center of Yates County, and Schweinfurth Art Center. Pamela’s work is exhibited annually in “Small Works” at Main Street Arts, and, in 2023, she had her first solo show in MSA’s new exhibition space, The Stairwell Gallery. In 2024, her work, “Don’t Look Up”, won the 2024 Geminga contest from“Sunspot Literary Journal”. Pamela was a featured artist in “Interlude 2025” at Arts Center of Yates County and, also that year, received Best Of Art in the 2025 Geminga contest from “Sunspot Literary Journal” for “Hope for the Thickly Settled”.

  • The Space

    Section image

In a converted fruit cellar, Pamela produces abstract visual interpretations of ideas or concepts, exploring the relationship between word and meaning. Pamela’s small works are often manifestations of ambiguity, allowing for varied reactions to each piece of artwork. Some works, however, reflect the world back to the viewer with more clarity, revealing hidden realities and challenging entrenched ways of thinking. Within the scope of a small two-dimensional surface, the objective is to communicate a powerful visual statement that rejects any notion of a “right” way to be creative.
